Bass fish are found all over this planet in all kinds of watery haunts from the ocean itself to remote streams and hidden lakes, to that little neighborhood pond that you remember as a kid. They have been proven by time to be the most popular game fish above all other types, and not only are they fun to fish and catch, but they make for good eating as well.

The word “bass” comes down to us from the Middle English word “bars” which literally in olden times meant “perch”. The scientific name of the order that the bass fish belong to is Perciformes translated means “perch-like” fish; and the members of this order are divided into two main divisions of freshwater and marine fish depending on which type of water they prefer. They will quite often be found swimming in groups and that group terminology is called a shoal.

There a numerous types of bass fish found in all sorts of watery environments; from small streams and remote ponds and lakes, to the ocean itself. The two main types of bass are referred to as temperate basses and black basses of the scientific family Moronidae. The temperate basses are the striped bass and the white bass; while the black bass group contains the largemouth bass, small mouth, Guadalupe, and spotted bass.

When people speak of bass fish, they are not just talking about the fish that fall under the main bass groups; they are also including a lot of kinds of fish that are similar to the bass, but are not technically part of the scientific group. Those kinds referred to by anglers as bass include black sea bass, giant sea bass and the Australian bass.

Bass fishing is the most popular game fishing sport without a doubt, and there are legions of anglers who would attest to that. A whole industry has built up around the bass fish, and there are hundreds upon hundreds of online websites where you can go to get any bit of information you want about the world of bass fishing or join a forum to talk with other bass fishermen; as well as specialty sports stores that specialize in the sport. There are all kinds of boats designed just for bass fishing, lures, equipment, recreational lodges built near bodies of water that support bass—the list is endless.

Your bass fishing experience is not complete without having a boat designed especially for the sport and using it to go after the prized bass fish. There are all kinds of styles, sizes, makes of bass fishing boats and the price ranges reflect the differences from flat boats, jon boats, electric boats—-all kinds of boats just for fishing for bass. The average bass boat ranges in size from 16 to 26 feet and is usually made of aluminum or fiberglass and will have an electric trolling motor installed on the bow of the boat which is required by law.

The sport of bass fishing is loved by many the world over and for very good reason; because the enjoyment of pursuing the bass fish is exciting in many ways. When you are totally outfitted and have a great little boat that you can park yourself on and just relax for the day on a remote lake or pond; or conversely are having the time of your life hooking and working a fighting bass fish on the end of the line—-the fun is never ending and reaffirms the fact for you loud and clear just how much bass fishing is loved by the fishing world.

Boat Seats: How To Buy Them At A Hefty Discount

Posted by Frank Gehry Web Hosting Thursday 27 August 2009 5:52 am

by Frank Gehry

Few things are as pleasant as a trip on a boat with people that you like, whether it’s a fishing trip, a leisure voyage out to the sea, or a weekend down a river. Even if it’s your profession to be on a boat, there is something about being on the water that just makes it special.

The boat may be a yacht, a powerful speedboat with outboard motors, or even a human-powered canoe. And even if it is a ferry that you work on, it’s a very enjoyable way to spend your time.

Boat seats are a fundamental part of any of these vessels, and you will find that any trip will turn onto a nightmare if the seating isn’t comfortable. And this isn’t just a passing inconvenience, but a serious issue of crew fatigue and safety.

Any boating hobbyist or professional will surely appreciate that if an exchange of boat seats is necessary, it is better to spend less than the full price on them.

Buying good boat seats that have already been used is, of course, one of the most viable options. Good places to look at are the local classifieds, as well as ads at your nearest boating club. Ask your boating friends too, they may just have what you need in their garage. You may of course have to do some minor repairs, but it will well be worth it and you will save loads.

As for new boat seats, one option is to buy in bulk. Get your boating friends from the club together to negotiate a price with a dealer, and even if you get different seats, chances are high that you will get a good discount.

You should also make sure that you are taking advantage of any special offers that local retailers may have on boat seats. Always ask if they have anything on offer, even if it’s not advertised directly, but make sure that you enquire and understand why the boat seat is on offer!

Check aftermarket shops too. These are retailers specializing in end-of-the-line products, which are usually much cheaper than current ones. The next aftermarket shop may be out of the way so inquire about availability of boat seats over the phone in advance. It may well be worth the call!

Another great option is buying boat seats online, through the Internet. Online shops have lower overheads and are therefore able to pass on reductions to the customer. Plus, if you buy a seat that you don’t like the retailer must give you a guaranteed full refund.

You can also try buying boat seats at auctions, either online auctions like eBay or offline ones which could be held in your local area.

Learn About Skydiving : More Than Just A Sport

Posted by Paul Parker Web Hosting Wednesday 26 August 2009 8:10 am

by Tony Blair

What to expect whilst skydiving is the focus of this installment of our skydiving guide.

Skydiving is a popular form of extreme sport in which you exit a plane at anywhere from 10,000-18,000 feet (3,050-5,500 m) and fly / fall through the air.

At the point of exiting the plane, the force of gravity is far stronger than that of air resistance, causing a rapidly accelerating descent. After a few seconds, and a few hundred or a thousand feet, the two forces become equal and the jumper reaches terminal velocity. This speed varies according to the person’s body and posture, but will be between 120-180 mph (193-290 kph).

The actual speed depends on the size of an individual’s body and the posture assumed. Most people position their bodies with the arms spread out and the face and belly pointing to the ground, but higher speeds can be achieved through a diving-like posture with head down, arms together or by the side and legs together.

Once the parachute cord is pulled, the main canopy is released and fills with air. This increases air resistance and the fall immediately begins to decelerate because of the sudden increase in air resistance. If the chute is opened at a safe height, the jumper will land at roughly 10 mph.

Hazards of skydiving include malfunctioning equipment, mid-air collisions and turbulence. Only about 1 in every 100,000 jumps leads to a fatality. But while the odds of something going wrong are relatively low, the consequences can be huge, so jumpers must always be alert and safety conscious.

Depending on the type of skydiving you want to do - Tandem, Static Line, AFF (accelerated free fall) - you may spend anywhere from an hour to eight hours training, which will cover: some basic physics about how the body and parachute work together; how to use a lot of complex gear safely; how to jump from the plane; the different falling / flying techniques; how to land safely.

Skydiving isn’t cheap. It can cost between $50 and $200 for a jump, depending on the type of skydive and the status, facilities and location of the skydiving school. Equipment is not always provided by the school and skydivers may need factor in the expense of buying or hiring gear.
